Voltage Stability Study
Voltage Stability Study
(OP)
I´m working on a Voltage Stability Study of the Costa Rica´s Electrical System. The study is about developing a methodology for calculating the expected and actual MVAR margins for voltage stability. Also the study implies founding critical contingencies for voltage instability, V-q curve generation, interface stressing, etc.
We´re using EPRI´s VSTAB program. This program uses the fast decoupled powerflow method BX. Our power system is longitudinal -I mean not fully meshed-.
There are three basic regions: North -generation region-, Central -load region- and East -generation Region-.
I´m experiemnting a problem when stressing the interfaces between regions because the bus voltages drop a little portion and then resitute after every chance I redispath power and stress the interfaces, and I can´t develop any PV curve analysis.
I wonder if there´s someone who has some experience in using EPRI´s VSTAB program and can give me some tips. Please answer and I can give more details.

RE: Voltage Stability Study
I recommended you two things:
a) Contact the software developer, they are usually very nice people, who know very well their product and when you buy a software some technical support is always included.
b) Another option is to contact a person who uses the software, his data are:
Dr. Daniel Ruiz Vega
CFE-UIE
Mexico
email:drv_liege@yahoo.com
He has worked with this software tool in several projects recently.
I hope this helps you!
