Excel BOM properties

Excel BOM properties

Excel BOM properties

(OP)
Hopefully someone has a good answer to this. We currently still use the Excel based BOM. My question is does anyone know how to set up the spreedsheet to pull info from the custom properties file of a part???

RE: Excel BOM properties

1) You have to open your BOM in Excel and setup your BOM
2) Pick or add a new column (if you don't want or need the default columns hide them only don't delete)
3) Highlight the cell in the first row that corresponds to the column that you want to add the Custom property too.
4) Insert\Name\Define
5) Click Add
6) Add the correct (Case sensetive) Custom Property per the SW file Custom Property, it MUST MATCH EXCATLY.
7) Save the BOM and try adding it to your Assembly drawing.

RE: Excel BOM properties

Start by going to the SW Help > SolidWorks help files > Index > Custom properties & Custom properties/bill of materials.

Also if you got to http://www.solidworks.com/pages/news/seminars/archives_regform.html?CFID=3999781&CFTOKEN=58154277 & sign up, you will get access to many SW online demos. They are not tutorials but you may glean the basics of many SW features.
