Variable Pitch Helix (thread) in SW2003

(OP)
Does SW2003 have the capability to creat a Variable Pitch Helix (thread)?  I've looked through the HELP section but found no answers.  I thought I'd check here before I move on.

Thanks for your help.

RE: Variable Pitch Helix (thread) in SW2003

Not as a single feature. However you could create several constant pitch helices in sequence to get a similar result.
The tangency & "thread" form matching at their intersections might not work for you though ... depends on how accurate & "variable" you are trying to make it.

RE: Variable Pitch Helix (thread) in SW2003

Cor is correct, I have been able to use multiples with some success on Springs.  This is done by creating the three helix features and then using a composite curve to combine them all into a single entity with one sketch to ride the curve.  Take a look or download some of the compression springs from the SW Site under downloads, models, parts, springs.  You will see some good examples there.
