Multiple decals in assembly not working

Multiple decals in assembly not working

Multiple decals in assembly not working

(OP)
I have an assembly where I am using the same sub assembly (saved as different files) in ten diferent places. Each one of these sub assemblies is using a part with a decal on it. ie ten different parts. When I press render it does not show.
I have tried appling the decal at the sub assembly level with mixed results.
Doing it this way it, for some reason shows all the same decals at the top level assembly.
Is there any way I can get different decals to work without saving the sub assembly as a part?

Any feed back or direction pointing would be much appreciated.

Jim

RE: Multiple decals in assembly not working

In order for this to work you will need to have the sub-assemblies saved under different names or configurations. Each instanace of the sub-assembly in the assembly needs to be unique.  If you don't then the same decal will show on each sub-assembly.  I usually apply my decals at the part level. You could also do this have 10 different parts (uniquely named) or 10 different configurations of the part and then set up different configurations of your sub-assembly. It seems to work better.  Once you have applied decals you can go into the PhotoWorks render manager RMB on the decals and choose which decals you would like to show or hide.

Thanks Rockguy,

I managed to get my rendering working by having different configurations of the sub assembly and of the part I needed decals on. I then applied the decal onto the part at the sub assembly level (not the face which I think where I was going wrong).
I also updated to SP04 which may have also made a differece.

Thanks again
