testing of marine clay

(OP)
I am not an expert.  I just wanted to know if there is a test that a homeowner can have performed to see if their house is on marine clay.  I know there are kits for testing lead in paint, etc.  Is there one that a novice can do?  If not, what type of professional should be contacted to do the test?  Is a home inspector sufficient? I would greatly appreciate any feedback.  I live in a mobile home  community that is brand new and two of the other houses around me are coming apart.  Walls separating from each other, etc.  I have a suspicion that marine clay could possibly be the problem.  Thanks for the input.
