PDM Link

In simple language, What is PDM Link? I have extensive experience on Intralink and Projectlink, but how is it differnt from each of these?
I have heard that PTC is discontinuing with Intralink and is looking at PDM Link as its replacement.
What is Intralink- Multisite and how does it differ from Intralink- Single site?

RE: PDM Link

PDMLink is based on Windchill, like ProjectLink. It has workflow incorporated into the process, so tasks can be assigned and distributed by a project leasder.

Intralink-MS allows you to have multiple sites sharing data into a single Intralink database.

How true is the rumour that PTC are discontinuing INTRALINK?

RE: PDM Link

When I asked the product marketing manager at PTC for PDMLink that question, he didn't deny it, but he didn't exactly confirm it either. My guess is that PDMLink still has a way to go to prove it can really replace Intralink. You might see a rev 4 of Intralink, but I don't thin k there will be a rev 5.

PDMLink takes a lot more to set up and configure than Intralink. The migration of data requires special code or third-party application interfaces.

RE: PDM Link

PDMLink is enterprise data management where as Intralink is workgroup data management.  Think iceberg, where engineering data and workgroup data management is the tip.  In the case of Intralink that's where it ends unless you have it tied to a ProductView server to publish the viewables.  In PDMLink the data doesn't stop at engineering.  You are not limited to the types of data that you store, associate and lifecycle manage in this system for the entire enterprise to use.  It also creates viewables so that people outside engineering can see what the object looks like.
