Flame detection using 24V DC power supply
Flame detection using 24V DC power supply
(OP)
I want to monitor the flame of a propane gas burner which is mounted on the back of a truck. The normal method would be a manual valve worked of a themocouple but I would like a devise that would work instantaniously in the case of a flame failure. We have 2 x 12V Batteries on the truck. My question is:
Is there a device on the market that will suit this application?
Preferably useing a UV cell rather than ionisation flame rod.

UV detectors are a lot more expensive. Repairs are also quite expensive.
We also have over 30 small gas burners, 600,000 - 900,000 BTUs' that use flame ionization detectors that give absolutely no trouble. I just checked and the spare parts have been in stores for 20 years, with no withdrawals.
Unless this is a very critical operation I believe I would stick with the ionization detectors, most of which are available at the local heating and cooling supply co.

Part of their ignitor control package is the "SunSpot". it uses the flame to complete the DC circuit.
When there is fire, a set of contacts will make (or break).
