Adhesive for Polycarbonate sheet material

Adhesive for Polycarbonate sheet material

Adhesive for Polycarbonate sheet material

(OP)
I am attempting to mount a machine guard on a pump in the nuclear industry. One suggested scenario was to glue velcro strips to Lexan sheets cut to fit. That would make the guard removable for OPS to manipulate some small Mech seal supply valves inside of the pump to motor stand coupling area that we are trying to protect. Any ideas about a good permanent adnesive to attach the velcro to the polycarbonate sheet? Would the sticky back velcro work in this application. PS there is some oil mist in the atmosphere and the temps in the area are upwards of 110 far.

RE: Adhesive for Polycarbonate sheet material

Polycarbonate is not good with oils and solvents. Acrylic is somewhat better in that regard.

If you are concerned about the integrity of the adhesive joint, why not cut slots in the acrylic, and loop a belt or a strip of Velcro through 2 slots for a mechanical joint
