fiberglass mfg process spray guns: suggestions?

fiberglass mfg process spray guns: suggestions?

fiberglass mfg process spray guns: suggestions?

(OP)
I'm a newbie to fiberglass manufacturing and trying to learn quickly.  I will be involved with robotically spraying gelcoat and layup resin on open molds.  I am investigating manufacturers of spray guns and associated equipment and have found the typical mountains of information on the internet.  I wanted to hear what actual users had to say.

Can anyone recommend vendors for spray guns & delivery systems suitable for robotic spraying?  I'd appreciate it if you could throw me some company names.

The titles of your favorite process engineering books for fiberglass mfg would be nice, too.

Thanks in advance.

I am looking forward to your replies. Having been in the GRP business  for 30 years I still doubt the usefullness of these spray plants - - they might  create more problems than they solve but it all depends on what exactly you intend to do.  Is it large numbers of huge moulds in a big open factory. Certainly the suppliers will give a glowing picture of capabilities but you obviously realise this.  Are you in UK or USA

Located in US...can't you tell when I spell moulds as "molds" (hee hee)?  8^)_)

Application is boat manufacturing.  So far I've been told by co-workers that the two gun vendors to consider seriously are Binks & Magnum, but Binks is better.

Tygerdag  If you are into the boat business there is another way of making GRP shell .You cover the mould with dry glass matting,  then a polythene sheet. then somehow you suck the resinup through the glass. I hear many boats now made this way.  A specialist supplier of Technical info and essential equipment is Diab Ltd.  They have a good webbsite at http://www.diabgroup.com

thanks C-man.  this is exactly the plan (called "resin-infusion") but still need to put the esthetic gelcoat on the surface of the mold first.  Going with Binks.
