i know a Canadian Certified Industrial Electrician wanting to work in Switzerland. would this be a difficult thing to do?

Infact in Europe, they work on a 110 volt system the same as here. In Britain, even the household service is 220 volts but that would be no problem to a licenced electrician either.
The only other requirement would be that work permits would have to be applied for and the ease of getting those usually works on a supply and demand basis for the trade at the time.
Good luck to your friend, working and living over there for a while can be a great experience.

That aside, I dont blame you for wanting to work in Switzerland. It is a beautiful country, and from my encounters with people from there, I have found that the Swiss people are, for the most part, quite content with their standard of living.

this has job vacancies for the uk and applications are welcome from all over the world
Ove Arup and similar consultanacy companies use a lot of foreign workers because of the shortage of suitable applicants so if you want a job...no problemo
ask for back copies because not all advertisements are replied too, due to the workforce shortage
