Creating an EFFECTIVE Inspection Traveler

Creating an EFFECTIVE Inspection Traveler

Creating an EFFECTIVE Inspection Traveler

(OP)
I'm working for a small manufacturing company and have inherited a close to useless inspection traveler.  Are there any good resources present on the web for creating one? Any one have any good suggestions? I'm looking at this from a QC perspective and want to make it as simple as possible for the guys in the shop. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

RE: Creating an EFFECTIVE Inspection Traveler

I have a ASME JOB ORDER TRAVELER LOG if you need it let me know. It is ASME Ceritfied and approved

RE: Creating an EFFECTIVE Inspection Traveler

Take a look from the guy in the shop perspective.

They quite possibly will think this is all a waste of time, so after you develop your traveller, you need to train the shop as to why this is important and how the information gets used.  The best form in the world is useless if it doesn't get filled out with correct data.

Then take the "why is this needed" question and point it at each line-item that you are thinking of putting on the form.  If you can't come up with a good answer, maybe its not really needed.

thanks for the respones.

i do have a hard time trying to get them to understand why its needed but after a while they seem to agree.  it comes in more handy in preventing problems and avoiding disasters.

the real trick is trying to get the shop guys to understand the importance of material markings. ugh.

fourwheelinyota,
I'd appreciate a copy of the traveler.  Can you send it to my email noted below?
Thanks,
