Restoring Deleted Files
Restoring Deleted Files
(OP)
You can delete files from the Open dialogue box within SW. My question is, where do they go? Can they be restored? I thought that they went to your Recycle Bin, but they don't.

RE: Restoring Deleted Files
I do know that if you hold the Shift key down and select Delete it Permanently deletes the file.

RE: Restoring Deleted Files
That is the problem we had in the beginning of PDM with our vault on a server. We started working on the server in a mapped drive labeled our name. The more files we had in our folder the slower SolidWorks got. The associates started deleting the files from their folders. Then they started wanting them back. As you found out the deleted files go into vapor space.
To solve this problem of keeping our folders small and being able to bring back files I wrote a Visual Basic 6 program to move the files in our folders on the server to our C:\ drive in a folder called backup1, backup2 and etc.
