the only thing that still gets me that they havent fixed in ug is the prefernces should be made like the tool bars so you can save your settings. in the preferences/object menu
you cant save what color you want your solids to show up or datums or lins or sheets
you have to do it for every file you start
which sucks when you have std colors for solids, and other entities. unless you guys have figured out a way to save them. im on a hp unix box

These settings are in the ug_metric.def and ug_english.def files.

yeah but how do i modify those files?
to i have to open them with notepad and manually edit them?

Yes.  Administrator priviledges are usually required.  It is a good idea to save a copy before editing (for backup).

From what I've heard (from reliable sources at UGS) is that starting with NX3, there is going to be an interface within UG that sets these defaults & saves them upon exiting & restarting UG....so, we won't always be having to edit .env & .def files.

Also, if you're using the GM Toolkit, you'll have to modify the metric.def file that is in the Toolkit config directory, NOT the metric.def file that is in the UGII directory.
