Relay Suggestions

(OP)
I am looking for a dependable relay with the following characteristics...

-24V Coil Voltage
-Less than 30mA through the coil
-The current rating through the contacts must be 2 - 3 amps
-Contact must also support 24V
-Normally Open Contact

The relay needs to be NO. During 99% of operation the relay contacts will be closed because the coil will be continuously energized. When that one rare occurence comes up where the coil loses voltage, then I want the contact to go back to its normally open state.

I've looked on digikey and found a few power relays, but I just thought I'd ask as far as other ideas or second opinions.

Thanks!

Also... this relay will be soldered on a PCB. So it needs to be a PCB, dip or surface mount package.

Thanks!

RE: Relay Suggestions

What type of load will the relay be switching- resistive, inductive? AC or DC load?

RE: Relay Suggestions

(OP)
It turns on an ice cube relay that is on a 24VDC line. So in summary... 24V DC

RE: Relay Suggestions

really24-

Host of options out there, I found a few in Allied's catalog, for example Magnecraft/Struther-Dunn 276AXXH-24D, a SPST-NO with 10A contact rating at 30VDC, 24VDC coil at 2880 ohms (about 9ma coil current to engage). Pins at 0.1" spacing for PCB mounting.

Could you go with a NC relay and skip the use of the ice cube relay?

RE: Relay Suggestions

It seems that what your after should be a dima a dozen.
I believe a solid state switch would work as well provided you can use a heat sink. What type of rating does the ice cube relay have? As suggested, you may be able to eliminate it.

RE: Relay Suggestions

Hello,
I am looking for a PCB SSR - control voltage 0-10VDC, switching AC load, 4-5A. I have found some, crydom, crouzet, tyco but they are too big. I need something .5" x .3" x .3

Any ideas?

RE: Relay Suggestions

A relay to energize another relay?  If the voltage is 24VDC, then a MOSFET with integrated diode would do the job as well if not better.

RE: Relay Suggestions

I am looking for a zero crossing SSR. Any other vendors other than crydom, tyco, P&B?

itsmoked. I apologize. I really am sorry, I am new to this forum and will not let it happen again. Calm down! It's not the end of the world. I made a mistake.

RE: Relay Suggestions

Did you look in Digikey?  They have some solder in SSRs. Hitachi?
