Shear in Embeded Beams

Shear in Embeded Beams

Shear in Embeded Beams

(OP)
Hi all
what does ACI say about embeded beams ?
i have a beam with depth less than half its width (depth =30 cm, width =150 cm)

I use Egyptian code for design but it say i must check it for that all shearing stress must be resisted by concrete only and i must use stirupps of maximum distance between branches not more than 40 cm)

i see this very conservative!

RE: Shear in Embeded Beams

That sounds more like a narrow slab.  I would design it as a slab if the shear strength of the concrete is greater than the applied factored shear.
