Curvic coupling

Curvic coupling

Curvic coupling

(OP)
Hello all, I'm looking for info on curvic couplings, their shape, standard sizes, how they're cut, load calcs, etc.  I've contacted some machining suppliers, would like to get a head start.  Any and all info would be appreciated.

RE: Curvic coupling

Contact Gleason. They have booklets which explain how to design them (or they used to, cause I've got em). Gleason are the only people who make the machines which are used to make them, as far as I am aware. However, you would probably be better off with a Hirth coupling these days - and they are a lot simpler to design.

RE: Curvic coupling

Hello -how can I help?
I have been working with Curvic Couplings for over 25 years, in production, development and revrse engineering.
Feel free to contact me at TLMauk@yahoo.com and I will help if I can.

RE: Curvic coupling

I have a lot of information on Curvic development, and  would be happy to help if I can.

RE: Curvic coupling

Hi CurvicGuy,

Probably you will prefer Curvic, but I have been told that hirth is even more accurate that curvic and much more cheaper than curvic. I think that in Europe most of machine-tool manufacturers use hirth but in Japan they use Curvic. What is the reason?

Do you know, apart from machine tool, where and who can use hirth couplings?

In hirth, I know Tedisa. I have been told they are very good. www.tedisa-hirth.com . Do you another manufacturer for hirth? and for curvic?

Thank you

RE: Curvic coupling

I do not have much experience with Hirth couplings, but thanks to unclesyd I will be able to increase my knowledge.
Thank you!
