Generation of IMPACT FACTOR of Bridge Standard Loading

Generation of IMPACT FACTOR of Bridge Standard Loading

(OP)
Hi friends,
I am working on generating a standard bridge loading for our country. I have established standard design vehicles by analysing the traffic axel load data of our country. Now I want to establish a relation for computing IMPACT FACTOR on bridges.

So, can anybody help me by suggesting me the method of calculating IMPACT FACTOR.....?

RE: Generation of IMPACT FACTOR of Bridge Standard Loading

The governing bridge code (AASHTO) here in the USA uses the following formula -

I = 50/(L+125) where L is equal to the span length under investigation.  I is limited to 0.3.

For regions of the span where there is continuity over the supports, the L is the average of the adjacent spans.

This has served us well over the years since the code's inception.

RE: Generation of IMPACT FACTOR of Bridge Standard Loading

Just to be clear shakildor, Qshake noted a percentage of LL, not a factor.  The factor would be limited to 1.3 ......  I would hate for your code to specifiy a .3 Impact Factor.
