Information on Variable Frequency Drives

Information on Variable Frequency Drives

(OP)
Hello there,

I am looking for source of information on variable frequency drives that has to do with electrical   design and distribution issues. I am also seeking this information to prepare for professional licensing.
I understand that NCEES seems to require more than a reasonable knowledge in this area. I would greatly appreciate any  or all information on this topic and as to where to find them. Thanking you in advance.

RE: Information on Variable Frequency Drives

Siemens in the USA have some pretty good training packages that can be downloaded as pdf booklets. They cover the basics of motors, motor control, power distribution etc.
Click on http://www.sea.siemens.com/sitrain/default.asp then scroll down the page to "quickSTEP Online Courses" and click on 'more...'. This takes you to a page with various on-line training programs. Click on 'download' and you get to the booklets you can select.
Pretty basic stuff but good to get started in this area.
