(OP)
I am having trouble interpreting the NACE MR0175 specification.  I have equipment made of carbon steel (516 GR 60 plate as well as A105N forgings) and also some stainless steel barstock (SS316).

I think I understand the carbon steel requirement: as long as hardness is within limit, the Nickel is < 1%, the parts are heat-treated and there is no free-machining steel, it will conform to NACE requirement.

I am not sure about the SS316.  Must that meet the same or similiar criteria?

I would appreciate any help, and if someone can confirm my understanding on tge carbon steel parts.

thanks

RE: NACE assistance please

Needless to say, it (Ni <1.0 wt%) is only for carbon and low alloy steels.[para A.2.1.2]
