Tornado test results
(OP)
Did anyone keep a copy of Larry's results testing these things on the dyno? The thread seems to have hit the bit bucket.
Cheers

made a few small HP/TQ gains on gasoline carbs
no gas mileage difference

"As tested by a recognized testing facility! Our product works!"
Lets see now; air flow straighteners;
air flow turbulence inducers;
vortex generators;
air catalysts;
micro turbo-supercharging;
the miraculous $9.95 mini supercharger;
the “incredible device the oil companies don’t want you to buy”;
the "device Europe has known about for years, now available in the US";
air ionizators;
fuel line magnets;
fuel catalysts;
fuel oxygenators;
fuel line heaters;
Leave anything out?

Oh and don't forget the Miracle Crystal Battery that can be recharged in 5 minutes from any wall outlet and will propel a family truckster station wagon at 80 mph for 400 miles on a single charge. I used to work with a guy - engineer he was, but civil thankfully - who believed this really existed but the oil companies wouldn't let it out.
RE: Tornado test results
You forgot an array of spark intensifier, miracle spark plugs and amazing spark plug leads, not to mention a pyramid or two

RE: Tornado test results
When I was doing some research on a converted CI to SI engine redesign, I inserted diverters in the inlet tract to help with air-fuel distribution. It worked great, at certain speeds, then at others, it went to he** in a handbasket! The diverters established a resonance/sympathetic frequency in the intake which disrupted the airflow, almost to the point of total starvation at certain speeds. You could hear it, and the exhaust thermocouples confirmed it. Connecting an intake vacuum gauge showed extreme fluctuations.
Sorry to go off topic.
Next:
Spark plugs that spark in an oil bath;
Intake valves with grooves machined in the back of the head;
Foil placed behind the visors to disrupt the radar of our highway patrol officers radar;
Foil placed behind the hubcaps for the same reason;
Those crazy whistles that glue to the top of the bumper to create an ultrasonic noise to chase away the deer from roadways;
The sticker that you buy for $12.50 USD from one of those police benevolent societies which allow you to get out of speeding tickets free;
Asprin tablets in fuel tanks to preserve the fuel, the same with mothballs (there was a thread on this once);
More?

. . . . . . Leave anything out? Franz
Yeah. Reality, experience, education, and a conclusive, repeated, demonstrated history of performance. The "Tornado" design team doesn't have any of it.
If none of the above, . . . . matters to you, you should invest your life savings in the Tornado. You might want to by one and intall one on your vehicle too!
Every vehicle manufacturer in the WORLD has ignored this company. Clearly they were wrong. Where's Ron Popiel when he's needed?

RE: Tornado test results
I recently had to turn in to the FBI an e-mail writer for threatening me with my life. The topic? Making backyard Hydrogen and burning it in his truck! I told him it was not practical and that the volumes of H2 that he might be able to produce would barely keep a lawnmower engine running.
The gimmick was to arc welding wire in a water bath and capture the bubbles which were pure H2 (!) and burn them. I told him that the cost of the welding wire, the energy required to arc it, and the energy to compress and store the gas far exceeded the btu value derived from any such gas that MIGHT be produced.
He sited some obscure websites touting the “Hidden technology the US government and oil companies doesn’t want you to see”, of missing and assassinated scientists, miracle 100 mpg carburetors that really exist, and that if I didn’t believe in what he was telling me, he would have to come and meet me, with “a convincing argument, with a 2 X 4!” since obviously I was one of the “paid off government lackeys"!
Oh for crying out loud, gimme a break!

The testing I've seen is they increase mileage if clockwise, but decrease if counterclockwise. Of course it's opposite in Australia and S. America, so be sure you order the right part number!
RE: Tornado test results
I was wondering which way they spiral in Singapore, and if the helix angle is sensitive to latitude

They filter the air, so yes, they work. Whether they can offer a significant increase in power or torque with no other changes to the car seems a bit unlikely. After all, the absolute MAP in a normal production car at full power is at least 97% of atmospheric, so it seems that the maximum gain could be 3%, at full power, and rather less elsewhere. Frankly I doubt you'd see anything in practice, since at max torque your airflow is down quite a bit, and the pressure loss will vary with airflow^2
" Being a computer nerd, how about those computer chips you can purchase?"
Yes they could increase power and torque and mileage. Tuning the chips is a balance between many requirements, and an aftermarket tuner can have different priorities to the OEM guy. After all, he doesn't have to worry about variability, reliability, emissions, or drivability.
"Bigger straight dual exhausts?" Well, if you keep your cat then the maximum improvement seen in the back pressure thread was about 2-3% on max torque and power, and it would give no measurable effect on the standard fuel consumption tests or emissions.

Franz, you did not even mention the fabulous Split Fire stuff. Especially the Twin Fire plug wires! Great balls a fire!!!
