Need to know Electrical Codes in Australia

Need to know Electrical Codes in Australia

Need to know Electrical Codes in Australia

(OP)
Guys,
I'm in the process of putting together some bench scale equipment to be used in Australia. I need to know wiring requirements for small hp. (1/4 hp.) electrical motors and control equipment. Also (as a side bar issue) if you know anything about pressure codes (reactor equipment 0 to 450 psig, once again lab type issues) I will be in debited to you.

Thank you,

Jeff

RE: Need to know Electrical Codes in Australia

The general electrical wiring codes in Australia is AS3000.  This and others can be found on www.standards.com.au

RE: Need to know Electrical Codes in Australia

In addition to AS3000 for general requirements, see also AS/NZS3008 for conductor sizing relevant to the switchgear to be used, not just the current rating of the cables themselves.

Failure to refer to AS3008 can result in some unfortunate heating effects and switchgear failure (I speak from our customers' experience here )

Cheers!

BigMax
