DC motor, torque ratings

(OP)
Hi,

I need to find out how to select a 12 to 36 volt dc- gear reduction motor for a project.  I need one capable of pulling a 1200 to 1500 lb pit cart (tool box) around at a very slow speed.  I have no idea how to figure out how much torque/ power will be required for this.  I am using a modified winch setup now, with a chaindrive replacing the winch cable assembly.  I need something better.  Any help?
