Motor protection MCHN02

Motor protection MCHN02

Motor protection MCHN02

(OP)
all,
We have a conveyor which need to be changed its drive. From DOL starting 3.3 kV motor into VSD. This modification require additonal transformer 3.3/0.6 kV. The old motor is protected with MCHN02 motor relay protection. I want to ask for your help:
1. Anyone know where I can find the manual of this MCHN02? Google don't help me with this matter.
2. If This relay obsolete, could we re-setting this relay for the new protected transformer? or should we replace with the new kind of relay protection?

Thank you for your advice.

regards,
pamungkas

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

Areva T&D can give you the data - it is a motor protection relay from their Micom range. (Areva was previously Alstom, and before that GEC Measurements).

Oops, sorry it is a Midos relay, not a Micom relay!

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

AREVA T&D only lists MICOM digital relays on its site under the motor protection.

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

Alot of the Midos relays are now superceded or rapidly becoming so - you might need to talk to one of the applications engineers at your local Areva office (if you have one, that is).  As far as I kmow, Areva is 60% owned by the French government, so I guess something as British as an old GEC Midos relay is not something whose existence they would like to acknowledge publically!

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

You can get a technical manual of MCHN02 but you will have to ask the AREVA AIS unit (Stafford U.K).
I think it is available by request only.

www.areva-td.com.

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

Areva have replacements for MCHN02 , namely P42x series and P22x .
But if you badly need a MCHN02 manual , you may be able to get one from the Contact centre at Stafford. +44 1785 223251

I have a copy and can email it if you can provide me the id. It is about 700kB in .pdf format.

I thank for your information. I've contacted local rep of Areve and they have very quick respond. They also sent me the old manual of MCHN02. And you are right that it was obsolete and replaced by P220.

Related with our plan to change the DOL starting with VSD, which require new transformer, if I only concerned about ground fault may I STILL keep the MCHN02 (with new setting)in our system? I believe the motor characteristic just the same with transformer's. It is cheaper economically.

What is your suggestion?

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

I think you can.

RE: Motor protection MCHN02

It's all in the manual - now you have it, you can read it.
