Would there be an advantage to qualifying welding procedures and welder performance using D9.1 vs. B2.1?  The application is GTAW & GMAW, nickel-alloy plate and sheet, down to 11 gauge.  Is procedure qualification easier with D9.1 (maybe bend tests only, vs. RT or tensiles using B2.1)?

I don't have the codes by me and haven't read the latest issue.  It has been my experience and was the companies to try to bend every welding coupon.  The was especially true for the Nickel alloys.  Every time we attempted to circumvent our requirements by accepting anything else, we got in trouble.  In the high temperature area's we required side bends.

It was a lot easier calling out "next" than trying to cutout or repair to a nickel based weld.
