(OP)
Hi to you all

In the process of purchasing a system  for 2D cad 2000 to use at home.  I am undecided whether to go for a flat screen as opposed to a crt. The reasons being footspace and weight of a 19"crt against the price of a 17" flat.  Any info regarding graphic card requirements to give acceptable resolution for cad would be appreciated.  I have heard about problems using Cad with Xp as the OS. Has anybody had any problems with it.  With cost being an issue as well I have just read an article regarding good deals on refurbished m/cs from the likes of Dell and Mesh with what seems good guarantees. Any feedback on the system and best purchase options people have had would be a real help.

Many thanks

XP Pro works very well with Autocad.
Flat screens are good, get the best you can afford.  The cheap ones are not suitable.

RE: System requirements CRT/Flatscreen

LCDs have fixed resolutions so keep that in mind. Some of the LCD models are poor when viewed from a slightly skewed angle. I would try to actual see the model you want to buy before you get it. CRTs give you a lot of bang for the buck and we have found that they are a little more reliable. At work here, we relegate LCDs to the managers and CRTs to the engineers. That is my only experience with them. AZATEK.com is a good place to find deals on monitors BTW.
