Error in deformed shape plotting

Error in deformed shape plotting

Error in deformed shape plotting

(OP)
Hello,
I did a simple simulation of a mechanical structure. I applied a certain load to a ceramic plate. ANSYS gave me a good result on the DMX, However, when I plotted the deformed shape, the deformed shape plot was always the same,no matter how I changed the pressure and material properties, but the DMX values seemed all right. Any ideas on how this happened? Thank you.

RE: Error in deformed shape plotting

This is probably because the deformed shape is automatically scaled so increasing the pressure load will only scale up the deformity. The deformed shape will look the same unless you change the scale factor yourself.

RE: Error in deformed shape plotting

In MSC NASTRAN, deformed shapes are automatically scaled.  To get true displacement deformation, one must change the display settings.

Perhaps there is a similar setting in ANSYS.

Thanks. You guys are right, it is due to display setting problem, the scale should be selected at 1.

RE: Error in deformed shape plotting

Actually, a lot of modern FEA packages auto-scale the deformation.
