separating volumes after cut-out

the above is one part from an assembly i am using to explore modeling techniques for a tubular chassis.  the cut-out feature does a wonderful job of creating the interface geometry at the end of each tube, but leaves behind unwanted 'floating volumes'.  i am able to manually create cuts which will eliminate the disconnected material, but i am hoping to find a feature which will easily eliminate all discontinous solids within a part.  is this possible?  i have been unable to find any information regarding this problem in pro/e 2001 help or in my various web searches.  any help would certainly be appreciated.  thanks.

RE: separating volumes after cut-out

Kyle,

If you have floating "chunks" in your model, you can copy all of the surfaces surrounding the volume that you want to get rid of and create a cut from that quilt.

Use the command:
(in 2001)
Insert--> Surface --> New--> Copy
(in WF*)
Select the surfaces, then use Edit--> Copy

Then, create a cut from the closed surface quilt.

(2001)
Insert-->Cut-->Use Quilt
(WF*)
Select the copied quilt, Edit-->Solidify-->Remove material

Cheers,
-Mark
