K CV, What does K indicate

K CV, What does K indicate

K CV, What does K indicate

(OP)
This is in the context of impact testing.
In some of the supplier's notes (Italian) they refer to KV or KCV, when they discuss about impact test. As far as i know, generally Charpy V or Izod or 'u" are the commonly used words, what does K mean in the impact parlance? is this terminology,  a standard term? can some one shed some light please.

RE: K CV, What does K indicate

These are not likely parameters from an impact type test, rather they are related to fracture toughness tests. In North America, 'K' typically refers to stress intensity factor, with Kc referring to the critical value of K. Following ASTM Method E399 for testing, the plane-strain fracture toughness value can be found (Kic). Unfortunately, I do not have enough Italian, so I'm not sure why they use the letters 'V' and 'CV'. Those are likely meant to be subscripts, just like the 'C' and 'IC' used in North America.
