Hi Quark thank u for ur repply cooling water temp is 32C in and out from abs 37C. fouling in heat exch i did not under stand.there is auto decrystallization in chiller.Delta P cooling water is 88kpa and chilled water delta P is 47kpa.natrual Gas pressure is 200mmqa.vacum is ok now pleas advice me.thanks.

RE: absorption chiller performence

The conditions you give seem ok.

As quark suggests, there are many possible reasons an absorption chiller isn't performing properly, as yours is a gas fired unit that adds to the complexity!.

If your not familiar with the operation of these units, I would reccomend you contact the manufacturer and arrange for one of their service technicians to pay you a visit.

If the problem with the chiller is with the chemistry of the absorption cycle, you would need to employ the services of the manufacturer (or an specialist) anyway.

Hope this helps,

Cooky

Just for your information, you can reply in the same thread which you started earlier by simply typing in the Your Reply text box.

You didn't specify the system vacuum. Ideally with water LiBr systems it should be 4mm abs for 60C chilled water.

Though your system has auto decrystallization facility, sometimes you have to do manual decrystallization. If your dilute solution from High Temperature Heat Exchanger to the Generator is cool then you have severe problem of crystallization. Though it is a crude practice, we heat the low temperature heat exchanger with gas flame and internally decrystallize with steam for quick remedy.

Check the blow down line valve(it should be closed generally) for liquid bypass. This is provided to by pass liquid refrigerant to the absorber if the evaporator is flooded with liquid.

Check the design versus actual values of

1. Cooling water flow rate and temperatures.
2. Chilled water temperatures.
3. Gas flow rate.

Also clean the condenser tubes.

It is better to get the system serviced once in a year for better results.

As cooky suggested, it is better to speak to the manufacturer.

Good luck,
