Electrical duct assessment
Electrical duct assessment
(OP)
Hi everybody,
I am thinking about how to assess the physical condition (cleaness, available space, ...) of an existing duct (20+years old) spare or not. Could anyone give me a convenient way to do so.
Thanks for your consideration.

RE: Electrical duct assessment
Sample CSI Division-16 verbiage:
Test each duct for blockage or deformation.
N.B.: If duct is suspected to be “Transite” or other asbestos-cement material, it may be expedient to abandon in place without further study, contact, involvement, documentation or any resemblance of fanfare.1. Use a flexible mandrel/scraper not less than 12 in. long with a diameter approximately ¼- inch less than the inside diameter of the duct.
2. Pull a mandrel behind a brush with stiff bristles.
3. Replace any duct section found blocked.
4. Notify …Contract Administrator 10 days before duct tests; submit written reports of tests to …Contract Administrator.
