ASTM A 488

ASTM A 488

ASTM A 488

(OP)
Could somebody explain to me ASTM A 488 for welders qualification.
In § 13 of ASTM A 488 , we could find conditions for requalification of welders and essential  variables listed in § 13.2 and 13.3. We don’t find ( as in ASME P N°) an essential variable concerning the category N°.
My question is about category N° of ASTM A 488 for performance qualification:
A welder  qualified for a category N° 14 is he qualified for a category 1 to 14? Or is it necessary to qualified a welder for each category N°?

Thanks for your answers.

RE: ASTM A 488

I believe that a test on a base metal from one category qualifies welding on base metals from all the other categories.  It is similar to ASME IX in that a welder that tests on P1-P11 or P34, P41-P47 are qualified for all of those P No's.  All of the materials listed in A488 would fall under one of those P No's if they were all listed in ASME IX.
