Moisture separator for Vacuum Pump

Moisture separator for Vacuum Pump

Moisture separator for Vacuum Pump

(OP)
I am currently designing a vacuum fixture for aluminum aerospace parts.  I am concerned that coolant (CNC machining) will return to the vacuum inlet.  I would like to seprate the moisture from the return air.  Is there any recommendations for an external, inlet filter?  The pump being used is Rietschle VACFOX.

RE: Moisture separator for Vacuum Pump

There are a number of products on the market that remove moisture from air. The items that I am talking about were ment to reduce water from forming in fuel storage tanks. Water / moisture same thing. Please search the net. if you have any problems let me know.

RE: Moisture separator for Vacuum Pump

If you can use a side channel blower or liquid ring blower for a vacuum pump, you may not need to worry about coolant contamination.

RE: Moisture separator for Vacuum Pump

In orer to eliminate moisture from entering our vacuum pumps in refrigration work we would use a moisture vapor (cold) trap we made up using a 4" pipe and 2" pipe. one within the other with the bottem enclosed and only the 4" on top enclosed with th 2" open with a service valve on the bottom of the 4" pipe and another on the top of the 4" pipe. we would put dry ice in the 2"pipe so that any moisture would freeze going though to the vacuum pump.

I meant a liquid ring vacuum PUMP. You could use the coolant as the sealing liquid. The maximum vacuum is limited by the vapour pressure of the sealing liquid, but you can still get -90kPa or there abouts depending on temperature.
