Exploded Views

We are experimenting with the exploded view functionality. Is there a method to automatically create the assembly flow lines that indicate how the assembly goes together? Even something as simple as the movemenet a bolt goes through when the exploded state is created would be a help.

RE: Exploded Views

Hello Ben

(ProE2001)
In assembly mode, once you created the explode state, you have menu MOD EXPLODE. Click on the Offset line -> Create ->Axis (example) ->pick axis... and so forth.

It is not automatic but it is not difficult to do.

Good luck,

-Hora

RE: Exploded Views

Once you make the OFFSET lines, you can add JOGS and modify it's line type so it shows better on a drawing.

Be carefull, the OFFSET lines are features in the Assembly, so they need referneces, and we all know what happens when references go missing.

RE: Exploded Views

Hello,

To go completely over the top, have you thought of Design Animation (DAO) from PTC?

Hope this helps.

How will Design Animation help?
We are new to Pro/E, but our corp license gives us any module PTC offered on the date the contract was signed. DAO is part of Flex3C, which is our main license.

RE: Exploded Views

Hello,

Design Animation is similar to making cartoons, you move the parts around take a picture, move the parts take a picture. You then set time sequences for the movements, you can also zoom in, out, rotate etc and set time scales for these.

In the end you should have a 'movie' of the assembly exploding out.

Hope this helps.

RE: Exploded Views

onlyadrafter,

Do you have any recommendations for getting started with Design Animation? Any links or tutorials that you have found helpful would be appreciated. I am trying to get one of my fellow users to be the resident expert here.

RE: Exploded Views

Hello,

Can't really help you there, as we had formal training from a guy from Warwick Manufacturing.

PTC have information as well, but I can only suggest using GOOGLE to look for tutorials/links.

The course was 2 or 3 days (we had the guy in for a week helping with other things as well).

Good luck, it is impressive what can be achieved with DAO.
