Controlling contact angle
Controlling contact angle
(OP)
Hello all,
I was wondering if there was any method in being able to control the contact angle on a given surface? By control I mean, for instance, add something to a droplet of water on glass to increase/decrease it's C.A. Does anyone know of a website, book, or even from experience for how this is done?
Thank you,
Nick

A surfactant coating will indeed change the contact angle by making the surface more hydrophillic (or phobic). Titanium dioxide coatings are an option. I would imagine that work has been done on this in the membrane industry (prevention of fouling) and even in commercial glass production for windows etc.
Not much help I guess but maybe a lead....
