Design Table - What names are used for helix parameters?

Design Table - What names are used for helix parameters?

Design Table - What names are used for helix parameters?

(OP)
I have a tapered spring that I'd like to define both compressed and non-compressed configurations of in a design table - if possible.

I've noticed that I can control some features (not sketch entities with named dimensions) by using a header similar to "D1@Cut-Extrude1", where D1 is not a named dimension but seems to be the "name" that drives the length of the feature "Cut-Extrude1".  I assume this is a hidden name since I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere other than the design table.

Is there a "name" that's used to specify the "Height" parameter of a Helix in design tables?  Also, is there a listing of what "unannounced" parameter names are used for design tables?

Thanks,

Tim

RE: Design Table - What names are used for helix parameters?

If you select the Show dimension names in  Tools > Options > System options & then double click the Helix/Spiral feature (inside the springs "Sweep" feature) in the Feature Manager, everything you entered (in the dialogue box) to create the Helix/Spiral should be showing & will be available for selection into a DT or Equation. The controlling diameter of the Helix/Spiral will also be visible if the sketch is double clicked.

The height control will probably be "D3@Helix/Spiral1" or something very similar. It is a dimension, but was input via the dialogue box rather than in the graphics area.

For other "unannounced" parameter names. go to the SW Help > Index section & drill down to design tables, configuration parameters

Forgot to mention that all the "control features" can be renamed to more meaningful ones, just like the regular dimnensions can.

That's exactly what I was looking for.  Thanks!

I always rename parameters used in equations and design tables.  See <FAQ559-590>.

I have a design table-driven torsion spring with multiple positions.  You will see that all key parameters have been renamed.
