Reducing the size of a DXF

Reducing the size of a DXF

Reducing the size of a DXF

(OP)
Hi,

There is a way to reduce the size of a DXF outputted from Pro-E.

I have forgotten what to do though.  Can somebody refresh my memory?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Jamie

RE: Reducing the size of a DXF

Hello,

Why not just create a ZIP file?

Sorry should have given more info.

Converting Pro-E drawings to DXFs
From the DXF we are creating PDFs to be put on the web.

Initial DXF's outputted from Pro-E are very large.
I vaguely remember my predeccessor showing me a way within Pro-E which produces a more manageable size.

Thought it might have been changing "Disp mode" on the drawings or something.....alas not!

cheers

Hello,

We create PDF files direct from Pro-E, you will need to install a PDF creator.

Visit www.pdf995.com

I think this is where we got a free download from. If not let me know and I'll find out where we did get it from.

Thanks for the replies O.A.D

I can create PDF's already (Adobe Distiller).

We need the DXF's for a number of things, at the moment the average size is about 16MB.  We have done it before though and produced files around 4-6 MB.

Tech pubs. girl is doing her head in !!

Cheers

Cadbhoy,

Keep in mind that producing a DXF from a drawing, more details you have in yor views DXF file will increase accordingly. Erase views you don't need, remove tangent lines.
