AB PLC RAM Batteries

(OP)
We have a plant down for major overhaul and have all the AB PLC's powered down.  How long should the SLC-504 and PLC-5 RAM Batteries hold up considering they are about 1-year old?

Is 45 days pushing it?  Thanks

RE: AB PLC RAM Batteries

Allen Bradley documentation gives the backup times for the SLC5/04 as two years. Don't know about hte PLC5 though.

RE: AB PLC RAM Batteries

I believe that Allen-Bradley recommends changing the battery on a yearly bases. Therefore, yours should be replace before depending on them for backup.

Haycord,
I just joined up so it's a little late to say but it might help you in the future.
We usually save our programs on a monthly basis as well as just before any prolonged shutdown. That way, if the batteries go dead during the shutdown, we'd have a file to download into the PLC.
In case you're doing this already, just ignore it.
