smoothing out fuel pressure pulsations

smoothing out fuel pressure pulsations

smoothing out fuel pressure pulsations

(OP)
Ive got a 95 ford powerstroke diesel.  Im trying to solve
a long standing rough idle , in which i believe is coming from pressure waves in the fuel system affecting injector\
fueling to each cylinder.  my pressure spikes at the fuel
pressure scrader valve max at about 120 psi and tough at 30
psi.  How do i determine the size and nitrogen charge of
an accumulator , or should i try to install a electric fuel pump to keep a steady pressure
thanks in advance

RE: smoothing out fuel pressure pulsations

It could be from a worn injection pump.  How many miles on it?

RE: smoothing out fuel pressure pulsations

(OP)
IVE GOT 202,000 MILES ON IT, IT HAS THE HEUI FUEL SYSTEM IT.  LAST OCTOBER I PUT NEW INJECTOR O RING KITS IN...APPROX 186000 MILES..
THE MAIN REASON FOR MY 1ST QUESTION IS BECAUSE I PUT A BANKS POWERPACK SYSTEM ON THE TRUCK.  IM NOT GETTING THE
POSTED BOOST LEVEL OF 22 PSI , I GET TO ABOUT 18 WHEN BURYING THE SPEEDO...ITS NO SLOUCH BUT I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE DIFFERENCE,  IF ITS DUE TO A WORN ENGINE , ILL HAVE NO QUAMS, BUT I DONT THINK IT IS, BY BLOW BY IS NOT EXCESSIVE AND IM GETTING 20 MPG AT 70
MPH, I ALSO AM NOT GETTING ANY HEAVY EXHAUST SMOKE, JUST A LIGHT BLACK AT FULL RPM.  ALL MY OIL CHANGES ARE DONE AT 3000 MILES RELIGOUSLY FROM BUYING THE TRUCK NEW AND BESIDES REPLACING THE INJECTOR O RINGS AND FILTERS I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO THE BASE FUEL SYSTEM.   THANKS YOUR YOUR REPLY!

RE: smoothing out fuel pressure pulsations

It could be one injector leaking and feeding high pressure back into the rail. As far as the pulsations go. Does the book give a spec on it?
Not getting the posted boost could be many things. What is it without an airfilter? Sure you don't have an exhaust restriction? Is it getting proper fuel flow, clean filters etc.? Are the ecu parameters correct?
