SI Reports in AGS Digital Format

SI Reports in AGS Digital Format

SI Reports in AGS Digital Format

(OP)
We are looking at buying software which reads AGS formatted data. As this is the standard format for SI information we feel that this software, which can perfrm a multitude of extremely useful tasks with SI data is an excellent idea.

My problem is ensuring that if we purchase the software there are sufficient SI companies who will give us the data in digital format with the tender package in addition to the standard forest full of folder bound paper reports.

Are you an SI company who do/do not issue digital data or have you tried and succeeded/failed to obtain such data.

Please let me know. Thank You

Regards Ginger

RE: SI Reports in AGS Digital Format

I work for a si company and we produce all our logs in ags format.  It is generally only requested for larger contracts.  Once established it is easy to use and gives consistant results.

Thank you for your reply.  As you can see, you are the first person to reply to my post in eight months!!  As you probably speak with other companies in the SI field, is it your impression that most companies produce their data in AGS format.  If so, is it easily copied for passing out to contractors during the tender period.

The software we are looking at will generate 2D and 3D strata views, draw cross sections and allow us to analyse trends in lab result data.  This is currently done manually and is extremely laborious when you consider that a large proportion of our work involves tunnelling.

RE: SI Reports in AGS Digital Format

i don't know how many companies use ags, mine does and most of the large contracts require the information in this format, so i suspect that this is increasingly becoming the standard!.  The logs are produced this way, but at present it is still easier to provide the lab info in the normal format.

As for passing the information to the client (and contractors), it is much easier to forward emails rather than faxes and post.  Clients prefer the email method for drafts for correction, but the contractors haven't requested the information in this format so far.  In the uk, no lab i have been in has the facility to produce ags data (although it may be added by the engineers in the reporting stage), but i haven't been to them all!!!
