Online Monitoring Of Electric Switchgear

Online Monitoring Of Electric Switchgear

Online Monitoring Of Electric Switchgear

(OP)
I am looking for any information you may have in regards to after market online monitoring of electrical switchgear from 415V to 11KV which would allow the monitoring of the condition of the switchgear while live.

RE: Online Monitoring Of Electric Switchgear

More info from Simon:

We carry out maintenance to distribution systems including
switchgear to 132KV, protection relays, transformers etc
in Australia.  I understand new technology overseas  allows
monitoring equipment to be fitted to circuit breakers that
monitors a variety of information including I2R looses,
contact resistance, arc extinguishing times etc while the
breaker is online and live.  I am interested to find out
more about this technology , in particular units that
could be installed to existing in service circuit breakers.

RE: Online Monitoring Of Electric Switchgear

Just received a product announcement from the Canadian Electricity Forum that may be applicable.  Apparently Uptime Solutions has just introduced a system for on-line monitoring of defective insulation in metal-clad switchgear.  This technology uses electromagnetic waves to detect defective insulation.  See www.uptime-solutions.com
