HPDI vs low pressure air assisted direct injection

Not sure if I have simply fell for all the hype but it seems that there are some good advantages to using low pressure air assisted direct injection. It's use seems more applicable for 2-storke engines as it can reduce amount of oil being injected aswell as petrol. But what about 4 stroke engines? HPDI seems to be the next new thing for cars.
I have read that HPDI can wet the pistons, spark plug, values lowing over all quench distance of fuels?? etc, causing more emission problems than it is theoretical meant to fix via lean operation, air assisted on the other hand does not.
I have found lots of info on air assisted DI, but am lost in tring to find the real deal on HPDI. Can someone point me in the right direction? Are my above statements completely wrong?

Orbital, GM and many others have done extensive studies comparing the 2 systems. Many of these are listed on Orbital's website and discussed at length on the oec message board.
