elastomer welding

Hello All

Is anyone familiar with elastomer welding process? I am interested in joining Silicon (if possible) and TPU. Can any one help me with this? Companies who do it, Brands of machinery...

Than you

RE: elastomer welding

I am going to assume you mean "silicone" the polymer and not "silicon" the element.  If you can't find a chemical solvent that will affect both to give you a chemical weld, then you are left probably with ultrasonics.

Thank you SMF

You are correct. I do mean the silicone the polymer. Also from what I know about ultrasonic welding is that, it relies on mechanical transmission of vibration. Is that going to be problem with elastomers?

Also how about the sonic crystallisation that silicone goes through. Do you know any thing about that?

Thank you
