data acquisition problem

data acquisition problem

(OP)
Please excuse this humble civil engineer...

I have a radar unit I'd like to use to collect traffic data. The radar sends out numerical data as text through a P2S 15-pin to RJ11 adapter. The instructions suggest using Hyperterminal to collect data transmitted from the radar. I have Hyperterminal set up according to the directions, but I'm not getting any data.

The instructions say the COM1 port is typically used. The modem is set to COM2. I've tried both.

Any suggestions?

RE: data acquisition problem

protocol settings? e.g., number of bits, start/stop

link gender? e.g., does the device send data to the receiving port of the PC, etc.  you may need a null-modem.

Latest version of Hyperterminal?  You can download the latest free version of Hyperterminal from the manufacturer.

Are you sure that the device is communicating?

Never mind, folks - it's missing a part.

Thanks for your time, IRStuff
