The local public utilities has a 30year old 24 inch dia water line that serves to fill the reservoir as well as service adjacent residences.  My firm is reconstructing the road and we are placing a new 8 inch dia main to service the properties.  The concern is how do you remove the old services with sizes of 0.5 inch to 1.5 inch and plug the holes.  The existing services have saddles that are corroded.

RE: Water Services Concrete( hyprescon) pipe

Ahhhh...the ill-conceived logic of tieing service connections into a dedicated trunkline.  As you are probably well aware, abandonment by simply truning off the mainstops will only be troublesome in the future.

Is the trunk main in relatively good shape or is it scheduled for an upgrade within 10 years?

Are the service connections relegated to a specific zone in the pipe or along an entire length abutting the residences?

Can the main be shut down for a short or long period of time (secondary feeder from the reservoir?
