Location of Post on Block Wall

(OP)
I have a 10" wide block wall that extends above ground by about 3 feet.  On top of that wall sits my house (wood frame).  I have built a garage underneath the house and I have made an opening in the block wall for the garage door.  Above the opening is a header with 3 2x6 posts on each end.  The opening will provide for a 9 foot wide x 7 foot high door.  The question I have is about the bearing for the posts on the block wall.

Is there generally a requirement to set the post back from the edge of the cut opening?  Or can the posts be flush with the side of the blocks?  This makes a difference to me since my 9 foot wide door might have to be made smaller to accomodate the block wall.

Any advice?  I have filled the blocks with concrete already.

Thanks for your help.
ps. I'm an electrical engineer, but I'm buiding my own house...I can't find any info on this.

RE: Location of Post on Block Wall

Posts on top of a cmu wall doesn't really have anything to do with post tensioning. How do you plan on connecting the posts to the wall?
