Dear All:
Is there any problem of using a Hastelloy C-276 Electrode to weld (TIG) 904L piping and acessories?

Thanks a lot.

RE: 904L Welding with Hasteloy C-276 Electrode

PR;
No, there should be no problems. The GTAW Inconel C-276 filler metal (Nickel base with approx 16% Cr, 15% Mo, 5.5% Fe, 3.5% W) is considered highly alloyed in comparison to the 904L (24.5% Ni, 20.5% Cr, 4.5% Mo, 1.5% Cu, bal Fe) base material,and is recommended for corrosive applications.

One drawback is the dissimilar coefficients of thermal expansion; if the part is subject to significant thermal cycling.
