Drawings and balloons

Drawings and balloons

(OP)
Placing balloons in a assembly drawing is very easy. The numbers are linked to the assembly. ex. If item number was "10" in the bom, you know for sure that when you place a balloon, the item number is going to have "10".

What about a single view of a separate item. In sheetmetal most of the time you want to see the flat pattern of the item. When you place a balloon it always gives you "1".

Is there a possiblity of linking a balloon to "item No" of the bom.
Know I have to change it manually.( Chance of making errors)

This is something I already asked Solidworks to handle, but until know I haven't got a satisfied answer. ( Insert an assembly and hide all the components you don't need)

Is there someone who's got an other idea??

RE: Drawings and balloons

If I understand correctly, you are placing a flattened view of a single part on an assembly drawing. If so, I don't think SW can do what you want it to. SW is designed to work with accepted standards & it is not "appropriate" to do this per any Standard I know of ... but I stand to be corrected if anyone knows otherwise.

You should be placing the flattened view on a seperate manufacturing sheet, with or without the other single part views.

You are right about the item 1. But of course you knew that. We always insert all sheet metal parts into drawings as an assembly. It is a lot easier when adding Pems and artwork. You will have to make a configuration of the assembly for the flat pattern to be used in the drawing. Then hide your component parts in the drawing tree.
