Problems with display tangencies in drawing view

Problems with display tangencies in drawing view

Problems with display tangencies in drawing view

(OP)
I seen this problem before (first in Pro-E, and now in Solidworks) with drawing views. The issue is when you place a hidden line view tangencies are not displayed at all. This happens predominately in Isometric views, but it happened today in a side view. Under Options/System/Display-Selection/Part/Assy Tangent Display is set to "As Visible". But the tangent edges will not appear. These edges are part of a louver feature punched into the side of the sheetmetal. These edges appear under Solid Shaded, but not in hidden line removal or hidden line display. I even tried Software OpenGL under performance options to take away the video card driver issue. Nothing. Any thoughts on this????

Thanks

RE: Problems with display tangencies in drawing view

Is this an assembly?  If so, interferences can cause this issue (in both proe and swx).

In SWX, this can also apply to multibody parts with interfering solid bodies.

RE: Problems with display tangencies in drawing view

In Options, ensure Document Properties>Line Font>Tangent Edges are set to the line type you want (like phantom).

In Options>System Options>Drawings>Display Type, ensure you have the default display of tangent edges set as Use Font.

In Options>System Options>Display/Selection, ensure Part/Assembly tangent edge display is set to As Phantom.

If those are set, then RMB the drawing view you are having trouble with, select Tangent Edge, and ensure Tangent Edges with Font is enabled.

That should do the trick in SW03... not sure about other versions.
