Mate cylinder to curved sweep
Mate cylinder to curved sweep
(OP)
In an assembly, I'm trying to apply a concentric mate between a cylinder (part 1) and a curved sweep (part 2), but not having much luck (I'm attempting to model a wire that wraps around a pin). The sweep profile consists of a circle. The sweep path begins with a straight line, then transitions to a tangent arc with an included angle of 270 degrees. It seems SW doesn't provide a mate option to have the cylinder pass through the center of the resultant 270 degree torus. As a workaround, I added to the profile sketch a small flat surface which would become the inner diameter of the "wire" after sweeping, which then allowed a concentric mate between the cylinder's surface and the small flat surface of the torus. Am I missing something obvious?
I'm new to the program (SW2004) and new to this forum (extremely helpful, thanks everyone).

RE: Mate cylinder to curved sweep
The mate type will then be Coincident between each plane.

RE: Mate cylinder to curved sweep
If you need it, you can add one more mate to prevent roatation of your wire form around your cylinder.
