Sizing A Chiller

Sizing A Chiller

Sizing A Chiller

(OP)
I am trying to size a chiller to cool a chemical. I would really appreciate help with a formula to do that.

I know the maximum flow rate, the maximum temp. gradient, and the properties of the chemical like viscosity etc.

Thanks

RE: Sizing A Chiller

If you know flow and temperature delta, and you know specific heat of the fluid, calculate your heat load kW/Hr (or BTU/Hr) and size the chiller unit from manufacturer's rating.

Look at: KoolantKoolers.com/quotes they have a nice form to get you thinking about the info they feel is important.

RE: Sizing A Chiller

If the chilled product has a mixer, add the mixer energy (kW) and any heat gained from the surroundings to the neat heat load estimated only from product enthalpies.
